On August 29, some of the best Australian football players in North America came together in Kelowna, British Columbia for the 2026 49th Parallel Cup, and Payable Apps was proud to be there as the tournament’s Official Streaming Sponsor.
Hosted by the Okanagan Roosters at Rutland Recreation Park, the 49th Parallel Cup brought Canada and the United States together for a full day of international footy, featuring both countries’ Men’s and Women’s National Teams, national development teams, and local representative players.
And for fans who couldn’t make it to Kelowna, Payable Apps helped bring the action to them.
As Official Streaming Sponsor, our support helped AFL Canada broadcast every match live and on-demand on YouTube, giving fans across Canada — and around the world — the opportunity to follow their teams. You can also replay it here!
A Historic Win for Team Canada
The 49th Parallel Cup has been a fixture of North American Australian football since the first tournament was played in Chicago in 1999, with the Women’s competition joining in 2007.
This year’s tournament featured four matches throughout the day:
- Okanagan Roosters vs. USA Men’s Development Team
- Team Canada Northern Lights vs. Team USA Freedom
- Team Canada Northwind vs. Team USA Revolution
- Canada Midnight Suns vs. USA Women’s Development Team
One of the biggest moments of the tournament came from Canada’s Men’s National Team.
Team Canada Northwind defeated Team USA Revolution to capture the 49th Parallel Cup for only the second time in program history.
The victory was especially significant considering the history between the two teams. Heading into the 2026 tournament, the United States held an 11–1 advantage in the men’s series.
For Northwind, the win marked a return to the top of the podium and another milestone in the continued development of Australian football in Canada.
Helping Bring Canadian Footy to More Fans
Payable Apps’ relationship with AFL Canada began in 2024 when we supported the AFL Transatlantic Cup in Toronto.
Since then, we’ve continued to support the growth of the game, including the 2025 AFL Canada Men’s Club Championships and, this year, both the 2026 49th Parallel Cup and 2026 AFL Canada Club Championships.
One of the areas we’re particularly excited to support is live streaming.
Australian football is growing in Canada, but players, clubs and fans are spread across a huge country. Making major tournaments available online gives family, friends, current players and potential new fans a way to experience Canadian footy regardless of where they live.
And that audience continues to grow.
AFL Canada reports that thousands of viewers now tune into its live tournament broadcasts, while clips shared through social media have generated more than one million additional views.
Streaming has therefore become an important part of AFL Canada’s strategy for growing the sport. With support from Payable Apps and other partners, AFL Canada has been able to expand its broadcasts with more matches, additional camera angles and increased production value.
We’re incredibly proud to play a part in making that possible.
Supporting Footy From the National Team to the Local Club
Our partnership with AFL Canada also goes beyond tournament streaming.
Payable Apps is an AFL Canada Preferred Supplier, helping clubs simplify something every community sports organization has to deal with: collecting registrations and payments.
Running a sports club involves a surprising amount of administration.
There are memberships to collect, players to register, tournaments and clinics to organize, uniforms to order, fundraising campaigns to run — and usually a small group of volunteers trying to keep everything organized.
That’s exactly the kind of problem we built Payable Forms to solve.
With Payable Forms, clubs can turn a regular Google Form into a payment-enabled registration or order form.
A club can collect player information, membership selections, uniform sizes, event registrations or other details through Google Forms and allow members to complete payment as part of the same process.
Responses automatically flow into the connected Google Sheet, where organizers can track registrations and payment status in one place. Payable can even send reminders when someone submits their registration but hasn’t completed payment.
The result is less time chasing payments and reconciling spreadsheets — and more time actually running the club.
Built for Community Sports
Because sports organizations are such a natural fit for Payable Forms, we’ve also created a collection of free Google Form templates specifically for clubs and teams.
They include templates for:
- Sports club registrations
- AFL memberships
- AFL junior programs
- “Try Footy” new-player registrations
- Sports clinics and camps
- Jersey and uniform orders
- Athlete sponsorship and fundraising
Clubs can copy a template, customize it in Google Forms, connect Payable Forms and start accepting registrations and payments without having to build an entirely new registration system.
For volunteer-led organizations in particular, keeping things simple can make a huge difference.
Growing the Game Together
That’s one of the reasons our relationship with AFL Canada has been such a great fit.
At the grassroots level, Payable Forms can help make it easier for clubs to register players, collect membership fees and organize their programs.
At the national level, our sponsorship helps AFL Canada showcase some of the country’s best players and bring major tournaments like the 49th Parallel Cup to fans around the world.
Ultimately, both are about making it easier for more people to participate in and experience the sport.
Congratulations to all of the players, coaches, volunteers and organizers who made the 2026 49th Parallel Cup possible — and a special congratulations to Team Canada Northwind on a historic victory.
We’re proud to support footy in Canada and can’t wait to see where the game goes next.
